REPRESENTATIVE L’ITALIEN ANNOUNCES REOPENING OF
BRADFORD FIRE STATION
On the morning of October 06, 2004, the Bradford Fire Station opened for full-time business for the first time since July of 2003. For the past six months, the station has only been open about two days per week and in the six months prior to that, it was open three to four days a week.
The Bradford station is the only fire station on the south side of the Merrimack River. The remaining three Haverhill Fire Stations are located on Water Street, High Street and 16th Avenue. One of four fire stations in the city, Bradford Fire Station will staff 3 firefighters from the 19 available per shift. The reopening of the station will result in an improvement in the response time for calls in the
Bradford area and the fire fighters safety. When multiple calls come in, there will now be an additional station available to react to it. Typically, one call requires three fire stations to respond.
“The reopening of the Bradford Fire Station came about through the cooperative efforts of the Mayor, the Haverhill City Council and the Firefighters Union. I am pleased that they were able to reach an agreement which will now allow the citizens of Bradford to rest assured that they will have a quick response time to any emergency in their area”, said Representative L’Italien.
